The Icons
1. Loose Park
The one everybody knows — for good reason. The Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden peaks from late May through June and keeps blooming into early fall, the pond catches evening reflections, and the tree canopy gives open shade all day. Best light: the last 90 minutes before sunset. Weekends get busy; weekday evenings feel private.

2. Union Station
The Grand Hall's 95-foot ceiling and three 3,500-pound chandeliers make it Kansas City's best indoor location — and the natural rain plan for any session. Just know it isn't free: Union Station charges a $75 facility fee for engagements, graduations, and weddings and $25 for small informal sessions, and it bans props. Best for: engagements, editorial portraits, rainy-day backup.
3. Liberty Memorial / National WWI Museum

The Editorial Set
4. Crossroads Arts District
Murals, brick, fire escapes, and neon. The look changes block to block, which means one session can feel like four. First Fridays add crowds and energy — plan accordingly.
Best for: senior portraits, personal branding, creative couples.
5. West Bottoms
Warehouse brick and iron bridges with a moody, fashion-editorial feel. Early Sunday mornings you'll have the whole district to yourself.
Best for: editorial portraits, fashion-leaning sessions.
6. River Market & Town of Kansas Bridge
Urban texture plus the Missouri River. The pedestrian bridge gives an elevated skyline angle most people have never seen in photos.
Best for: couples, city-loving families.
The Nature Escapes
7. Shawnee Mission Park

10. Prairie Village Shops & Porter Park
Tudor storefronts, flower boxes, and mature trees — storybook suburbia at its finest.
11. Historic Downtown Lee's Summit

Small park, huge variety: gardens, a lake, bridges, and the vintage "Dodge Town" façades. Perfect for kids who need novelty to stay engaged.
